Student Pledge

I pledge to seek the truth and to love all that is good and beautiful.  I will strive to achieve clarity of thought, nobility of character, purity of heart and to be a good Christian following the virtues of Christ, the Blessed Mother, our patroness St. Philomena, and Mother Luisita.  Therefore, I will pursue my education with diligence, humility and honor, embracing excellence and renouncing mediocrity.

Catholic Identity

Faith Formation

As a Catholic school, St. Philomena School teaches the Catholic faith, knowledge and practice, every day. Religious values permeate the entire curriculum and activities of the school.  At St. Philomena School, living Gospel values is who we are. We strive to teach as Jesus did in a faith-filled, fun, family, academically focused environment.

As the primary educators of their children, parents must take seriously their role in the faith formation of their children.  St. Philomena School seeks to partner with families whose values align with our school mission. Families should attend Mass every Sunday and Holy Days, participate in the sacraments regularly and pray together as a family.

Holy Mass / Other liturgies

The students are privileged to attend Mass weekly and on Holy Days of Obligation. Each class takes a turn hosting and preparing the liturgy. Families are welcome to attend. The school community prays the Stations of the Cross, Holy Rosary during the month of May and other devotions throughout the year.  Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter are joyfully observed with lessons and activities.

Confessions

Students and parents are encouraged to receive the Sacrament of Penance regularly as a family.  Confessions are available at our parish weekly.  Special confession days for the students are arranged several times a year.

Family Units

Family Units fosters the family spirit at St. Philomena. All students participate in this program monthly for prayer services, holiday celebrations, and social activities. One eighth grade student is designated as “head of the family” with one student from each grade as its members. Encouraging family values and mutual respect, older students develop leadership skills and younger ones look up to the older ones.

“I exhort the students to use earthly knowledge as a stepping stone to heavenly things – virtue and its practice.”
