What are my child's chances of being accepted?
Most new students begin at St. Philomena in Transitional Kindergarten or Kindergarten. Annually we have one or two places in each of the 1st-7th grade classes for new students.
What is the average class size?
High academic and behavioral standards allow our outstanding teachers and staff to effectively support the formation of our students. Students and their families are committed to seeking academic excellence and support our school mission. This strong partnership between home and school allows our school to have larger class sizes. Support staff, including classroom aides in TK-1st grades as well as a Resource Teachers for K-8th grades, assist with academic support and differentiation. TK and K classes average 28 students and 1st-8th grade classes average 30 students.
Is there a testing fee? What is the registration fee?
There is a $30 fee to cover the student assessment.
During enrollment, the registration fee is $150 per student.
How will I know if my child has been accepted to enroll?
After testing is complete, you will receive a letter in the mail from the principal. Those who are accepted will be welcomed to enroll.
What will my child be tested on during the assessment?
Applying students demonstrate their mastery of grade-level reading and math skills during the entrance assessment. This testing allows administration to determine if our program will be a strong fit for your child.
Non-Discrimination Policy
The school, mindful of its mission to be a witness to the love of Christ for all, admits students regardless of race, color, national origin, and/or ethnic origin to all rights, privileges, programs, and activities generally accorded or made available to students at the school.
The school does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, disability, medical condition, sex, or national and/or ethnic origin in the administration of educational policies and practices, scholarship programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs, although certain athletic leagues and other programs may limit participation and some archdiocesan schools operate as single-sex schools.
While the school does not discriminate against students with special needs, a full range of services may not always be available to them. Decisions concerning the admission and continued enrollment of a student in the school are based upon the student’s emotional, academic, and physical abilities and the resources available to the school in meeting the student’s needs.
